1 OCTOBER 2008

Common Kingfisher (Mike Lawrence) It was nice to see one utilising the new log perching spots in the shallows.

CALVERT BBOWT

Northern Pochard numbers have risen again to 25 birds, with a 'new' colour-ringed Cormorant roosting on the raft (M E in black on a lime green leg on the left leg) and a GREEN SANDPIPER.

Some 300 Lapwing remain, with 4 adult YELLOW-LEGGED GULLS pre-roosting with 500 or so Lesser Black-backs.

The COMMON KINGFISHER was showing well in front of the hide, with an influx of Goldcrests, a Blackcap and Common Chiffchaff in the scrub. Grey Wagtail over
