A flurry of TURTLE DOVES
Fantastic news! Jon Holt reports that Calvert BBOWT and its environs now has three different 'purring' EUROPEAN TURTLE DOVES on territory, with a further 6 birds on farmland within a ten-mile radius

GREEN SANDPIPERS return
Now 2 well marked Green sandpipers, Common Redshank feeding on the Tern raft, and Kingfisher doing a bit of fishing, heron stalking coot chicks, and Turtle Dove still purring and visable. Beat that for an afternoon. (P & NA Brazier)

TURTLE DOVE at last

The first EUROPEAN TURTLE DOVE of the year was seen and heard 'purring' at Calvert BBOWT reserve today (Jon Holt)

SATURDAY 13 JUNE
Calvert BBOWT; Now 5 Comon Tern chicks, 10 sitting birds but 5 what appear to be deserted eggs on rafts/Cuckoo.
Hillesden Pools; 3 Oystercatcher including adult sized juv/report of Quail heard calling in the area, no further details.
Met owner on site to discuss plans drawn up for new scrapes.There will be 2 new large shallow scrapes, with very gradual sloping edges.These connected together to older scrapes by wide shallow winding ditch.
